During the Covid outbreak, El Tango Collective, Inc was formed  to promote and advance the interest, growth and involvement of the public in Argentine tango dance, music and culture within Champaign-Urbana, Il and beyond.

To that end, El Tango Collective, Inc sponsors tango workshops, milongas, practicas, and other events and provides basic instruction in the fundamentals of Argentine tango dancing.  

El Tango Collective, Inc strongly believes that collaboration and consultation are critical in building a democratic tango community free from identity, class, and generational boundaries.

Before  Covid , Champaign-Urbana, IL was a crucible for  tango events and  activities with weekly club dances, multiple monthly milongas, visiting artists, musical concerts, pop-up's, flash dances and much more. By working with other community organizations, we hope to  "jump start" a renewed interest in  our local Argentine tango scene. 

In our opinion, there is never enough community tango.  Feel free to share your thoughts, opinions, viewpoints, beliefs and judgement with El Tango Collective.  Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful citizens can change the world.
